If you’re reading this and quietly struggling with mood swings, emotional crashes, physical pain, or overwhelming feelings that seem to follow a monthly pattern—you’re not imagining it.
And most importantly: You are not alone.
For years, I thought what I was going through was just part of being “too emotional.” I was told it was anxiety, depression, burnout. But the truth was deeper and more complex. Like many others, I was living with PMDD—Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, a severe, hormone-related mood disorder that affects millions of women and people assigned female at birth.
What helped me begin healing wasn’t just a diagnosis—it was connection.
It was finding a community.
It was finally realizing that there were others who felt exactly like I did—and that I didn’t have to suffer in silence.
🌍 What Is IAPMD?
One of the most important resources I found was the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD).
IAPMD is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, education, advocacy, and research for those living with PMDD and PME (Premenstrual Exacerbation). Their mission is to ensure that no one has to face these conditions alone.
They offer:
Free peer support groups and one-on-one peer support
Cycle tracking tools and symptom management resources
Educational articles for both patients and healthcare providers
Research updates and advocacy for better treatments
A compassionate, science-informed space where your experience is validated

💬 Why Reaching Out Matters
When I finally connected with others through IAPMD and support groups, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time: relief.
Relief that I wasn’t broken.
Relief that there were others who understood.
Relief that help existed—and that healing is possible.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or still wondering what’s happening with your body and mind, please know:
✨ You don’t have to figure it out alone.
✨ You are not weak for needing support.
✨ You deserve care, knowledge, and community.
PMDD can make you feel isolated, ashamed, or like you're losing control. But connecting with the right people and resources can change everything.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to speak up, this is it.
Reach out. Ask questions. Join a group. Advocate for yourself. You are worthy of understanding and healing.
And always remember:
You are not alone. There is help. There is hope. And there is a path forward.
